Tour of the Unknown Coast - Ferndale, CA May 11, 2013

Tour of Unknown Coast, Ferndale CA 100 miles, 9400 ft elevation 11.2 Avg TZ=3:09

Bruce and I pulled the Bambi 7.5-8 hours to Ferndale CA on Friday and parked it in the Fairgrounds.  There was a pasta dinner served and we got checked in.  Mark Wendt who has ridden this ride several times was there and filled us in on what to expect during the ride.

The morning was cool and foggy and our first 10-15 miles include a pretty good headwind.  Eventually, we got to a beautiful section of treed highway through the Avenue of the Gods.

Ride Around Clark County (RACC) -May 4,2013

100 miles, 4888 ft. Elevation gain 14.3 Avg. 4:08 TZ  -Bruce & Teri Allan, Petra and Tony

The weather is fantastic...sunny and in the 80's.  Bruce & Teri Allan, Petra and I rode Ride Around Clark County.  Bruce and I did the 100 miler in preparation for the Tour of the Unknown Coast next weekend.  Teri and Petra opted for the 65 miler.

The route is beautiful with the usual rollers.  Only one local Yahoo in a pick-up honking his horn and being a jerk...so below average.  Weather was stellar but there was quite a bit of wind the last 20-30 miles.

Cherry of a Ride - The Dalles 21 April, 2013

30 miles 60" TZ

We signed up and paid our $55 to the Catholic School and then rode out the the first turn around point.  Coming back into town is downhill but the wind was blowing so bad that we could hardly make and headway.

When we got back to town we passed the Clock Tower Ales and took it as sign that we should bag it and have a beer.  We rode back to the cars, ate some cherry cobbler the adjorned to the Clock Tower for some beers.

Bank-Vernonia with David and Greer

42 miles
It was sunny but not that warm today.  Still it was a great ride.  David and Greer joined Leslie and I for their first ride of the season.  So 42 to start with was pretty respectable.  We enjoyed a bite to eat at the Blue House Cafe before doubling back to Banks.

Champoeq bike ride - Feb 3, 2013

Tony, Sharon Peacock and Bruce/Teri.

It was pretty chilly but dry so we did a 39 mile loop from the Champoeq.  We needed to put on a few miles before the Worst Day of the Year ride next weekend.

Tilly Jane ski and snowshoe 2 Feb 2013

Leslie and I took advantage of the clear sunny weather and headed up to Tilly Jane.  Leslie snow shoed and I took by AT gear out for a spin.  Unfortunately, my binding broke on the way down and I would have been screwed except I had a Leatherman and got my boot in with it.  Conditions were very icy but Karhu Glides did great on the tricky downhill section.  I also took the trail to Cooper Spur resort just to see what it was like.  There had only been a few folks on it and there is lots of dead-fall so its probably not the best route to take.

Anyway, the sun was out and we could see Hood, Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens and Rainer.

Mt. Adams, Lava Loop from Snow King Sno-Park

Skied with new friends Lloyd and Lorie DeKay at Lava Loop out of Snow King Sno-Park.  A good covering over recent ice and the temps were near freezing with a little blue sky.

Enjoyed some appetizers and beer at the Logs Inn at BZ Corners afterwards.
